We're building
the booking app
Malawi deserves.

Odey is a beauty & wellness marketplace from Lilongwe. Salons, spas, barbers and beauty shops, all in one place — bookable in three taps and paid for in Kwacha.

⌁ Why Odey

Booking a chair
shouldn't take eight WhatsApps.

If you've ever tried to book a stylist in Lilongwe on a Friday afternoon, you know how it goes. Three saved Instagram posts. Two phone numbers off a friend. A WhatsApp that gets read at 9pm. A reschedule because someone double-booked. A missed appointment because nobody confirmed.

Meanwhile shop owners are running their whole operation out of a notebook and a chat thread — losing track of who's coming, who paid the deposit, and which products to restock for next week. The tools they're handed were never designed for the way Malawi actually shops, pays or talks.

Odey is the rail underneath all of that. A clean place to be found. A clean way to book. And a payment that lands in Kwacha, the way money already moves here.

What we built

Two apps, one rail,
no surprises.

  1. 01Module

    A customer app.

Search by service or neighbourhood, see real ratings, lock in a slot, and pay before you arrive. Or buy a product from the same shop and get it couriered.

  2. 02Module

    A shop app.

Calendars that don't double-book. Service menus, deposits, and staff rosters that update in real time. Products on the shelf, on sale on the same screen.

  3. 03Module

    Mobile-money rails.

Airtel Money. TNM Mpamba. Cash on arrival. Card if you want it. Settlement in MWK direct to the shop's wallet — no FX, no detours.

  4. 04Module

    Discovery, done right.

Browse by city, by category, by mood. Curated launches when new shops sign on. WhatsApp confirmations because that's where people actually read.

Who it's for

The salon owner in Mzuzu.
The barber in Blantyre.
And every customer in between.

Customers

If you book your own appointments — this is yours.

The student in Zomba booking a touch-up before exams. The mum in Area 47 squeezing a pedicure between school runs. The groom in Mangochi who needs a barber, a facial and a hot towel before Saturday. Three taps, in MWK, on whichever phone you've got.

  • · Book in seconds
  • · Pay how you pay
  • · Real ratings
  • · Order products
Shops

If you run the chair — this is yours too.

The spa in Zomba juggling four therapists. The salon in Lilongwe running locs and braids out of one calendar. The mobile barber taking bookings between gigs. Listing is free. The relationship with your client stays yours.

  • · No setup fees
  • · Live calendar
  • · Sell products
  • · MWK payouts
Built in Malawi

Not a port.
A Malawian app.

We didn't take a Western booking app, swap the currency, and call it done. Odey is built — from the database up — for the way Malawi actually books, pays and shows up. Mobile-money first. Kwacha first. WhatsApp where it counts. Lightweight on a 3G signal in a load-shedding hour.

  • MWK-first

Every price is in Kwacha. No FX gotchas, no “starting from $X.”

  • Mobile money native

Airtel Money and TNM Mpamba are first-class checkout options, not afterthoughts.

  • Built for thin signal

Pages stay light. Bookings still confirm when bandwidth dips.

  • WhatsApp where it lands

Confirmations, reminders and receipts arrive where Malawians actually read them.

  • Made by users

The team in Lilongwe books on Odey, runs shops on Odey, and lives with every rough edge.

We promise

Four things
we won't move on.

⌁ Non-negotiable
Promise · 0101

Transparent pricing.

No hidden fees. No surge pricing on a Saturday morning. The number you see is the number you pay.

Promise · 0202

Shop-first.

Providers keep the relationship with their customer. We're the rail — not the middleman, not the gatekeeper.

Promise · 0303

Privacy by default.

Your data isn't a product. We collect what we need to make a booking work, and nothing more. Read the policy →

Promise · 0404

Made local.

Built in Malawi, by people who use it. Every release ships through somebody's actual Saturday.
